Hannah Henderson

Hannah Henderson joins Marylebone Theatre and Rudolf Steiner House with a distinguished career in international arts management and international cultural relations.

She began her career in the Literature Department of the British Council, where she was responsible for literary programming across Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, Literary Translation and their flagship New Writing publication. Following a secondment to London 2012 where she worked on early planning for London’s Cultural Olympiad, Hannah then established and directed the British Council’s multidisciplinary arts programme across the Arabian Gulf. Based in Muscat Oman, she led a team across 8 countries and delivered an ambitious regional programme including visual and performing arts, literature, cultural leadership and museum education. Hannah then spent 5 years working with the Abu Dhabi Music And Arts Foundation, as both Senior Manager Education and Community and as Director of Operations of the Abu Dhabi Festival, which included opera, classical, jazz and world music, theatre, ballet, contemporary dance and visual arts and featured numerous world renowned artists and companies. In 2016 Hannah rejoined the British Council in Abu Dhabi as Executive and Artistic Director of the UK-United Arab Emirates Year of Creative Collaboration - a major bilateral cultural relations programme and year-long festival in the arts, science, sport and education designed to strengthen relations between the two countries. In 2018, she relocated to San Francisco, California, where as Managing Director of BATS Improv, the most highly regarded and longest established improvisational theatre and school in Northern California, she led them successfully through the pandemic while building a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient business model. In 2024 she relocated to London and to be closer to family and is delighted to have joined the team at Marylebone Theatre and Rudolf Steiner House as Executive Director where she is responsible for strategic and financial planning, HR and operational management.
